Advice on setting up a self-help group in your area

Setting up a brain haemorrhage or any self-help group in your area can be an extremely valuable asset to your community.

Setting up a self-help group can be a difficult task, as I myself found 4 years ago.

However various sources of help are available for those keen to help establish this kind valuable service, and believe me, if I can do it anyone can !

After some time searching I came across information in my local paper about the Millennium Commission, which enabled me to start up the self-help group in Aberdeen and launch this internet service.

Thank you Aberdeen’s Evening Express.

Sources of funding are available for those appropriately motivated. Below are links to various online resources relating to setting up a self-help group in your area? You can also contact me walter@brainhelp.co.uk or via the (live one-to-one) streaming chat facility to discuss any concerns or queries you may have surrounding this venture. When you have set up your community based support group send me the details of your meeting times and places and I will add them to a separate page devoted to this kind of database. I’m sure there’s a lot of people out there with very good ideas but money prevents their fruition. Here’s your chance.

National Lottery Good Causes The National Lottery makes a difference to us all by investing in people and places across the United Kingdom. So when you buy a ticket you always win because the National Lottery has raised more than £19 billion to help Good Causes in every community in the land.

This site provides information on how to get Lottery funding, the latest news on the organisations that distribute Lottery money, and case studies on projects that the Lottery has funded in the past.

www.unltd.org   UnLtd supports social entrepreneurs - people who have the ideas and the commitment to make a difference in their communities. We do this by providing a complete package of funding and support, to help these individuals start up and run projects that deliver social benefit.

Or just be contented to stay where you are."
